Soltozibin Architects Cho Namho
Cho Namho is the principal of Soltozibin Architects. He served as a member of the Seoul City Architectural Policy Committee and as the vice president of the Korean Institute of Architects. He has taught at the University of Seoul and Seoul National University and is currently a special professor at Myongji University. Under his leadership, Soltozibin Architects pursues architecture that draws from historical precedents, fostering a collective vision that values the individuality of each member. His participation in Re:Folly has further fostered his ecological aesthetics. He has received numerous awards including the Grand Prize at the Korea Architecture Awards, five Korean Institute of Architects Awards for Best Architecture, the Grand Prize at the Seoul Architecture Award, and the Arcacia Architecture Award Gold Medal.
Soltozibin Architects Lee Yukyung
After working with Heerim Architects & Planners, Lee Yukyung joined Soltozibin Architects and is presently the team lead architect. She contributed to every stage of the Breathing Folly; from application and design to construction. She worked with experts in construction, structure, sustainability, and solar power to calibrate design with engineering. After completing Breathing Folly, she participated in all the public programs related to Breathing Folly. Lee focuses on projects that promote sustainability and personally pursues an eco-friendly lifestyle.
Supia Construction Lee Ju Suk
Lee Ju Suk is CEO of Supia Construction, the contractor for Breathing Folly. Before Supia, Lee worked as a specialist in timber structure design and construction at Kyungmin Industry for 10 years. A highly sought-after consultant, his focus on low-carbon R&D has earned him numerous patents in timber construction. For Breathing Folly, he supported its schematic and design development phases by advising on material-specific design and construction. As an expert in maximizing the benefits of wood, Lee selects, manages, and processes it to make it a friendly material for all.
Supia Construction Park Geon Hun, Ko Yun Ho, Yoo Hwan Gyu
An expert in timber structure design and construction, Park Geon Hun is Associate Director at Supia Construction. Park oversaw the design and construction of Breathing Folly, managing the factory production in Incheon and on-site construction in Gwangju. Ko Yun Ho, as field team leader, led the construction team and Yoo Hwan Gyu, a senior staff member specializing in structural design, worked on its structure.
Gohosolar Song Soon Min
Song Soon Min is Vice President of Gohosolar. She studied business in college and has over ten years of experience at a semiconductor company. Gohosolar was responsible for the design, assembly, and installation of the solar panels for Breathing Folly, using renewable energy technologies, and contributed to the project’s carbon neutrality. Song managed the overall project and supported team members to make productive onsite decisions. Through the project, climate change, pollution, and energy issues, he gained confidence that the city’s sustainability improves people’s lives and can ultimately lead to social and economic development.
Gohosolar Lee Hwan Hee, Jung Sang Sin
Lee Hwan Hee, Technical Director at Gohosolar, was the quality control manager for the solar panel installations in Breathing Folly. Lee addressed their myriad technical issues and was responsible for selecting, installing, and commissioning safe, high-efficiency solar modules and inverters. With over 20 years of experience in electrical, electronic, and automation systems, he works in teams, ensuring smooth project execution by understanding each member’s technical proficiency and personality. Jung Sang Sin is Director of Development at Gohosolar. He came up with the idea of using solar panels for Breathing Folly and was responsible for design, revisions, client management, and quality control. He has worked as a researcher at LG for 8 years and spent the following 5 years in the medical field as an engineering designer for small and medium-sized enterprises. To improve his on-site problem-solving skills, he focuses on learning through collaborative projects. His skills in 3D modeling and design specifications have increased efficiency and accuracy in electronic control and mechanical design projects.
Lee Byeongho
Lee Byeongho began his architectural career at SAC and earned his PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology in sustainable architecture. Lee is a sustainable architecture planning consultant and research fellow for Hanyang University, KTC, and the Korea Real Estate Agency. To implement the ecological concept of Breathing Folly, Lee collaborated with Cho Namho throughout the entire process from planning to the final design. He designed its sustainable technologies: the cool tube system, wooden solar louvers, recycled paper insulation, and vapor retarders with technicians and contractors in each field. Lee calculated the carbon footprint throughout the project’s execution—from material production to construction, operation, and demolition, demonstrating through Breathing Folly that “carbon-negativity” can be achieved.
